Knowledge Level: Beginner
Problem: Combination
Computer Type: Apple
Model: Performa 6115CD
RAM: 24meg
RAM Enhancer: None
OS Version: MacOS 8.5

Description:
Teleport Gold II came bundled with my Apple (OS 7.5.1) when purchased in Jan '95. I have just launched OS 8.5. In using the Apple internet assistant, I get a message saying, "computer did not connect to the registration server." I was able to connect to a ISP under the old OS, so there must be problem in going to the latest OS. Also, per my manual, I should have Teleport Serial loaded, but I cannot find in my system folder.

I would prefer to stay with this modem because I am not looking for speedier internet access.

Can my Gold II be used under OS 8.5? What do I have to do?

Donald,
Thanks for giving us here at No Wonder the opportunity to answer your
question. I am Nevin of the No Wonder Mac Staff.
Go to the link below for download.com and get freeppp 2.6.2, download and install it and set it up and see how the ISP connection reacts. Make sure you have Open Transport on your computer too. I would also recommend rebuilding the desktop and zapping the Pram as a precaution to any system problems. If I can be of any additional assistance please feel free to reply e-mail me. Happy Holidays!

----
Best Regards,
Nevin
