Description:
Installed Global Village Teleport 56k v90 modem.Completely removed Apple Geoport internal modem to get system to recognise the 56k.Deactivated all apple telecom extensions.Occasionaly will connect but mostly fails with "check correct port and modem type are selected in the modem control panel". Checked GV control panel, modem control panel port and type, chooser printer corect, apple talk off, reinstalled GV software, downloaded latest modem scripts from GV tried several, zapped pram, rebuilt desktop.
Connection is with PPP, this is set ok,tcp/ip is set ok.Reselecting chooser and modem control panel sometimes gets it connecting but it is random and doesn't consistently connect after any specific reselection.I am going to get the modem checked to isolate that part. After turning computer on this morning it connected twice running I thought great my troubles are over, then failed next connect, then a connect then unable to connect at all for about 8 tries.Internal modem back in now and have an expensive 56k sitting here in its box.Tried modem connected to printer port as well same result.Hope I haven't spoilt your day.Is there any way to avoid removing the internal modem to connect an external?
Any ideas would be appreciated
Thankyou.
