DESCRIPTION:

I'm trying to dial in to my home computer from a remote
computer and access directories and files. I need the ability to download files from the remote location to my home comp.

You need to be running some sort of "Remote Access" software on your computer so it can accept incoming calls to the modem. Laplink is a good one. There are other programs available that serve the same purpose.

This must be installed on both computers (the one sending files, and the one receiving them).

Once you connect to your remote computer from home using LapLink, a directory tree similar to that of Windows File Manager shows up and you can access most all files on the remote system. You can transfer files back and forth.

Another option might be to install the Dailup networking server on the remote system. It opens up remote computer as a window on the desktop, and you can access most files from there too. Read the help guide that comes with dialup networking (or search the net) on how to install this option. If I come around this info, I'll email it to you.
