DESCRIPTION:

When I am online, just browsing, getting email, or downloading programs, it can happen any time, my modem just clicks off line. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to cut offs, they happen at random and sometimes don't happen for several online sessions. The next time it may happen when online for a minute or possibly 5 to 10 minutes. I talked to my ISP and they couldn't help me.

Hi Jim, welcome to NoWonder. I think that it is probably an incompatibility error with your modem and ISP. It could also be the quality of your phone lines. If you ISP has too many users on and too many people are trying to dial in, there aren't enough network sockets, especially if they are using a sluggish OS like NT. Try getting updated drivers and see if that helps. For me, buying a more expensive modem did the trick. If all else fails, you can try getting an automatic redialer to speed up pressing that "Reconnect" button. Email me with further questions.
