i have a viva33.6 modem in my computer. we have call waiting and I was told to check the box to enable the *70 if you did'nt want to get kicked off the net when you got an incoming call.I didn,t check the box but calls can't get through while we're on the net.Is the modem suppose to kick you off the net and let an incoming call through?

Hi, it's strange, sometimes they will kick you off the internet and sometimes they don't. I highly advise you to check the *70 though because being bumped off the internet like that can corrupt your internet software and is hard on your modem. I had problems with my modem that continuously bumped me off the internet, it did corrupt my software. I had to reinstall it. If you really want to catch those incoming calls, you can for about $6.95 a month get Instant messaging (I think that is what is called, not sure). What this is is an automatic answering service through the phone company. If your on the internet, it is automatically sent over to the answering machine through the phone company with your voice recording, just like a home answering machine. Then when you are done on the internet, you can call in to see what messages you have. This is the only other option.
