Knowledge Level: Intermediate

Problem: Combination
Computer Type: apple
Model: PPC 6500/275
RAM: 65+
RAM Enhancer: None
OS Version: MacOS 8.1

Description:
I have a PowerMac 6500/275 with an internal 28.8k geoport modem, which I have had removed in favor of my Global Village Teleport 33.6k external.

I would like to upgrade to a 56k modem, and the local Apple dealer where I work has an internal one that they have successfully installed in another 6500. Apparently, it is an Apple/Global Village model, and is a modem NOT a geoport type.

Presumably, this modem either comes with appropriate software, or uses the software that came bundled with my 6500. But what Iíd like to find out is, can this be used with the Megaphone software that came with my computer? All the external voice-capable modems I know of use there own mic and speakers. I want to use the Mac's (like the one that shipped).

If not, is there such a thing as a 56k geoport replacement that WILL work with Megaphone? Any other suggestions? I don't want to purchase a separate voice-capable modem that uses it's own speakers and mic. Iíd like something as elegant as what shipped with my computer, but with 56k capability.

David,

The modem should work fine with the 6500, You should also be able to use
the Megaphone software without a problem, granted that you have a microphone
hooked up to your mac.

Hope this helps!
