My daughter's 6200/75 with any modem attached( I have tried 5)
has download speeds about 2-5% of what they should be. Have tried latest open transport/ppp/tcp-ip and mactcp/freeppp in many combinations with no luck. This has only happened after upgrading to mac os8.

It may be that she needs more RAM installed. 12 MB is very little for OS 8. System extensions (ie. Open Transport) use quite a bit of RAM. Try disabling some unecessary extensions and see if that speeds things up.
