Knowledge Level: Intermediate

Problem: Combination
Computer Type: APPLE
Model: 8500
RAM: 65+
RAM Enhancer: None
OS Version: System 7.6

Description:
I sent a Radius Pressview 21SR monitor in for repair; received a Supermac 21T monitor as a loaner. The monitor goes into a sleep mode after 20 minutes of inactivity and the computer must be rebooted so I can see the picture on the screen. It also will not let me change resolutions it is fixed at 840 x 1170.
The monitor is hooked up to a Powermac 8500/144mb of RAM/Radius Thunder Card video card/system 7.6/ enery saver extension disabled/control strip only has 1 resolution setting available. Does this sound like a software or hardware problem. Thank you.

Hi, I'm Kirt, the Support Coordinator - unfortunately none of the volunteers here at Nowonder has any idea of what to do about your question - that said, I think if you hold down option-r or option-u you get the radius card to redect the monitor at boot - this was true on the older cards. You might also try loading the energy saver extensions and telling them explicitly that you don't want the monitor to be shut down - if it is the older Supermac it's probably not 'greeen' and doesn't handle the shutdown command from the extension correctly. The number of colors is most likely a hardware issue but I'm not familiar enought with the equipment to say for sure. Sorry we couldn't be of more help, and thanks for stopping by Nowonder.
