Hi

I'm having a problem opening some mpeg files, an error message apears "The movie could not be openened' when opening with Quicktime 7 and when its openened in MPlayer there is no picture only sound. Is it a problem with the files or is there another media player I could use. I've tried" Media" and "VLC" players but no luck.

Any ideas people?

Hello,

The file might be corrupted; or if you downloaded it from somewhere, it might be missing some information either due to downloading problems or the actual upload itself. Another possibility is that the file is using a different codec. Quicktime only opens certain MPEG files, as does MPlayer. VLC has far more codecs in its bundle, but not all of them. You could find out what formats the audio and video are encoded by checking the file's Get Info menu.

Sincerely,
Vishad
