DESCRIPTION:

When resaving an existing Microsoft Excel 95 spreadsheet we occasionally receive an error message. This message states that the file is being saved with a alpha numberic name and not the orginal name. Why does Excel do this?

We can delete the old file and then rename the new alphanumeric file with the old name.

Thanks.

Hi Raymond,

Thanks for using No Wonder!

Is Microsoft Excel 95 the only programs which has an error message when you try to save the file?

I haven't Excel on my computer at home, but I can try to see if we have that same problem at the office I work. Maybe Excel doesn't support long filenames, which would be very strange. Could you gave me a sample from the new filename Excel gaves to the files you are saving.

Good luck and send me some more information. But first I would thank you again for using No Wonder!
