Description:
MS office 98 displays perfectly on the screen of my Performa 5300, using all the screen but when transferred to my new iMac I have a screen display problem.
MS office 98 only uses the left hand half of the screen, and although it functions perfectly this is a serious problem as the text is now too small to read comfortably. It is the same with word,excel and powerpoint. I have incorporsted the OS 8.5 upgrade into MS office but it has not fixed this. I have also tried reducing the screen resolution to give office an environment that it was more used to, but this makes no difference either. I notice that some other pre iMac software like Ambrosia games also only occupy a smaller area in the centre of the screen and am not sure if this is related to the office problem or not.
Do you have any ideas?

games (especially ones written when 14" monitors were the status) will only display a given area due to there design/construction. nothing you can do about that.
as for the Office Issue, try dumping ALL the office affiliated preference files (word settings/excel settings/etc.......) as well as display preferences and the finder preference files. reboot computer. try office (it will need to redo its preference files), what happens? if still a problem, run the office UN-installer and uninstall. run diagnostics on computer (norton/disk 1st aid/etc..) and once everything is OK, re-install office and see what happens.
