I'm using MSN Messenger with mac osx Tiger. When I was at home, it worked just fine but now that I'm at college, I can connect to the internet, but messenger won't sign in. I can sign in with yahoo messenger just fine, but not messenger. I've tried downloading a lower version and that doesn't work either. Any ideas?
Thanks
Hi Marsha,
Does the network at your college have a firewall/proxy server? If you're not sure, give the IT people a call and find out.
If there is a proxy server that doesn't require authorization, you can just use the normal MSN Messenger (get the new version from
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/default...d=msnmessenger).
If the proxy server requires authorization (you have a username and password for accessing internet at school), you'll need to get Adium (
www.adiumx.com), which works very well with the MSN network.
Meanwhile, you can use the web messenger to chat:
http://webmessenger.msn.com/.
Let me know if you need more help.

Thanks for your help. I think I may end up downloading adium. I wasn't aware that I could chat through the web messenger. Thanks!
