I'm using MSN Messenger with mac osx Tiger. When I was at home, it worked just fine but now that I'm at college, I can connect to the internet, but messenger won't sign in. I can sign in with yahoo messenger just fine, but not messenger. I've tried downloading a lower version and that doesn't work either. Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi Marsha,

Does the network at your college have a firewall/proxy server? If you're not sure, give the IT people a call and find out.

If there is a proxy server that doesn't require authorization, you can just use the normal MSN Messenger (get the new version from http://www.microsoft.com/mac/default...d=msnmessenger).

If the proxy server requires authorization (you have a username and password for accessing internet at school), you'll need to get Adium (www.adiumx.com), which works very well with the MSN network.

Meanwhile, you can use the web messenger to chat: http://webmessenger.msn.com/.

Let me know if you need more help.

Charlie

Thanks for your help. I think I may end up downloading adium. I wasn't aware that I could chat through the web messenger. Thanks!
