Is there any way of having the messags open up below the Message List like in most newsreaders? Its a pain to have to click on each message to read it.

If I understand the situation correctly, I believe you can use the spacebar to continue opening new messages without having to click anything.

Yes - but the space bar only goes to the next thread.
Is there any way of viewing it in a Message Pane or Preview Pane?

Which version of MT-Newswatcher are you using? On my system (using MT-NW 3.4), pressing space bar while in a newsgroup list opens up messages. If a message is currently open and I press space bar, the message closes and the next thread is selected. Pressing space bar again will open the selected message. I can traverse and read an entire newsgroup list just by using the space bar.

Please..........is it possible to view with a Preview Pane like in Outlook Express and almost every other newsreader I've ever used? I want the message to appear as soon as its highlighted. Using version 3.4.
What do you think of Thoth? Or Net newswire? (Unison is great except it doesn't seem to be able to filter read messages between groups or crossposted messages.)

Ah, I see now. There's no explicit "preview pane" like the single window GUIs. But there may be an option that is close. In the Preferences, under Interface Options, there's a section for Reading News. If you uncheck the "Break at end of thread" then the message window will stay open while you press spacebar to read the next message even if the next message is in a different thread. It won't open automatically when you open a new newsgroup but once you open the message window, it will remain open until there are no more threads to read in that group.
Thoth and MT-Newswatcher were both based off an app called Newswatcher and provide similar GUIs, multiple windows, each for groups, thread listings, and the viewing of messages. Thoth has a similar option as the MT-Newswatcher option listed above. The Thoth option is called "Return to Article List Window at End of Thread." Thoth is great for handling binaries. I prefer MT-Newswatcher for just plain Usenet reading. Thoth and it's GUI for setting everything up can be confusing at times. It's not very user friendly.
In regards to NetNewsWire, I believe it is for viewing RSS feeds, and not usenet groups. I've only used NetNewsWire Lite. It's a good basic RSS news aggregator. I personally don't need much whent it comes to RSS feeds so it suits mine nicely.
