I have a Mac G5. I'm still on 10.3.9. I'm nervous about installing 10.4 at this time because of all these little problems.
When I try to get information about my Mac I notice that the "More Info" button is grayed out. I've tried repair disk permissions.
I can't fine system profiler.
Safari constantly crashes.
Computer seems sluggish.
I guess that's it for now.
Thanks for the help.

So far, those all sound like good reasons to upgrade. Safari will be snappier and less crashy in Tiger, you'll have System Profiler restored where it belongs, and the system will generally behave faster. Jump to Leopard and you'll likely witness performance improvements in leaps and bounds. Sure, you could reinstall Panther, but if you have the opportunity to upgrade, it seems like a great idea.

Hi Ben,
Thank you for your quick response. I guess I'd better bite the bullet and upgrade. I have a "copy" of Tiger. I read some reviews about Leopard. Some people had problems. Unfortunately, I can't remember what they were. Fortunately, I recently bought the CS3 upgrade, so that's a plus. Will I be able to use my Dreamweaver and Fireworks MX? I haven't upgraded for a long time so is there anything I should know about upgrading besides just installing it? I get worried about not being able to get my work done. I'm so glad I found you guys!

Sure, it's always the case that some people have problems after upgrades. Most people don't. The severity of problems covers a wide range, too.
Doesn't CS3 come with Dreamweaver and Fireworks? Perhaps it depends on the upgrade version you bought. Please check the label. Otherwise, I recommend an Archive & Install for the best possible elimination of installation-related problems. You'll get a new System folder, all of your data and applications moved to the appropriate places, and you can delete the Previous System folder when you're sure everything is accounted for and works properly.
