When I attempt to bring up my mail I get a message saying 'no mailbox selected' -

It shows, currently 135 messages unread, in my 'inbox'

I have spent two hours working on this with my servor - Charter.net

They said this message I receive means my INBOX is corrupt.

We have verified all the correct information is in the maibox preference box - she did not have access to a mac to troubleshoot and told me to call you - your phones are not open on the weekends - so in the meantime my mail is backing up more and more.

I do not want to lose all this incoming unread mail - HELP!

Hi - This happens a lot.. if it's what I think it is. Can you see your list of mailboxes over to the side or not? If not, then go to the VIEW menu and choose SHOW MAILBOXES.
I've found that many users somehow click on the mailbox icon and unintentionally hide their mailboxes.

Some users have an icon in their Mail's Toolbar that you can click on to make the list of mailboxes show or hide.

Let me know if this is on the right track.

No I know what you are talking about - I have all my mailboxes visible - and even the INBOX appears at the top of the list - now showing BUT WHEN I CLICK ON THAT ICON, there are NO messages on the top part - and IN the bottom section where the message text usually appears there is a message saying '

"NO MAILBOX SELECTED'

The charter person said the MAC troubleshooter book says that message suggests the INBOX is corrupted.

AND WHEN I CLICK TO TRY TO GET A MESSAGE TO SHOW - IT SAYS 'FETCH ERROR' "The user name and password specified in Mail preferences were not accepted by the server." BUT CHARTER SAYS WHAT I HAVE IN THERE IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY HAVE and that the user name and password ARE CORRECT.

Thanks for responsing, but that isn't the answer. :-( Bev
