Description:
I am having problems namining or remaming a folder. It stays highlighted for only a couple of seconds not allowing enough time to name it. I have rebuilt the desktop which didn't help. I have reloaded the system which also did not work. Do you have any suggestions?

Can you rename other folders? It could be that the folder is locked. You can unlock it in "Get Info" under the "File" menu (top of screen) from the Finder.

If that is not the problem, try creating a duplicate of the folder and then renaming the copy.
Other suggestions:
Turn off Folder Protection in your General Controls control panel.
Where on your hard drive is the folder located? The folder may be nested in a protected/locked folder. Try moving it to a different location and rename it. That may help.
