Knowledge Level: Expert but stumped
Problem: Software
Computer Type: Agfa
Model: studioscan ii
RAM: Not related
RAM Enhancer: None
OS Version: Not related
Description:
Where can I find an Agfa Studioscan ii scanner profile. I need a 'modern'one that will show up in Photoshop. That is, I need a Colorsync profile, not the old Fototune profile.
AGFA's site says they no longer make profiles available, but you can buy Colortune and make a profile for any scanner. I dont want to buy a tool I will use only once! Where on the Web can you find a profile for my scanner that has been posted by a user? Or is there a shareware app that will do it?

Burt,
I'm not aware of a source for profiles other than those supplied by the manufacturer. Since there are variances, sometimes quite significant between even two of the same device, it may or may not be a help to get an individual user's profile.
This can be especially true of a desktop scanner due to the fact that the scanner settings factor directly into the profile - if you don't have the exact same settings as another user - it's that much more not a help.
There are a number of people who provide remote custom profiling. For me at least (I provide this service) desktop scanner profiles are the least expensive of any I do and yet the difference they make is immediate.
One other very important issue related to this is your monitor. It is more important to have a profile of your particular monitor. Free software based profiles (like from ColorSync 2.5.1's calibrator function or using Adobe Gamma [which isn't the same as Gamma]) are better than using generic profiles from the manufacturer (generally) though not as good as hardware based, but nonetheless can be a positive step in the right direction.
If I can be of further assistance, don't hesitate to email me directly and thanks for using No Wonder!
