due to how my dsl was installed I have two different routers , one with my network and the other for the modem. can I use the other router to expand my network

With the two routers, is one of them a modem, or is a router?
And are they both wired?
Please specify information.

The 604 dlink router has a modem attached to it which is connected (via ethernet cable)to my network router (adaptec). I am thinking of adding another nas but I've run out of ports on the adaptec. Is it possible to use the dlink to expand my network, so it appears as one network?

With many routers it it is possible to use the router as a switch. But you have to be able to turn off DHCP server and firewall in the router in the setup pages. On some brands you can have the output from one router go to the input (WAN/internet) connector of the router, but on others, you have to go from output (LAN) connector to one of the LAN connectors of the other router.
What I'm saying here is - experiment, it won't hurt anything.
