Description:
I would like to download a picture (of Wonder Woman!!) from the net and use it as my desktop pattern. Please explain how to do this..
1- How do I "save as a PICT"? Or do I need to?
2- Do I take a "screen shot" and what do I do with it?
*3*- How do I save/place into my desktop patterns file?
4- Is the size important? ie: 260 X 240 pixels?
5- I have Photoshop but don't know how to use it. Would it be useful for this purpose?
6- Is there something else I should be doing instead?

Thank you very much, folks, you do great work!

Adrian,

Yes, you can download graphics from the net and use them for desktop patterns.

You will need Graphics Converter, a great shareware product (available at Mac Downloads) and Desktop Picture Hanger. This second shareware may be more difficult to find. I tested it on my machine for a few days, and it convinced me to spring for OS 8.0 that uses a Desktop Picture control panel.

Here's how to do it. Download the graphic. Drop it onto the Graphics Converter icon. It will open. Resize it at 640x480. Once it is named and saved to a folder, just drag it to the desktop and it becomes a picture clipping. Then open the Desktop Patterns Control Panel and drag the clipping into the center of the control panel. It will copy into the patterns for tiling.

Now if you want full screen pictures, use the Desktop Picture Hanger. It allows for full screen pictures to appear just like OS 8.

Hope this helps.
