hi.

My cd player doesn't appear on the desk top. I opened the finder, not there. I checked prefs. and it says open itunes. Is it broken?

cds are not homemade. computer is g4 867 mhz, running os x 10.3.9. tower

ps i can.t find a cd player under applications. I see dvd player but no cd player???

iTunes is the CD Player for OSX in the same way that Media Player is on a windows system. Just let iTunes open it and it should play.

If you don't want to use iTunes just do a Google search on CD Players + OSX and take your pick.
