Knowledge Level: Intermediate

Problem: Combination
Computer Type: Iomega
Model: Zip Drive
RAM: 65+
RAM Enhancer: None
OS Version: MacOS 8.1

Description:
I have a 8600/200 with a built in Zip drive. Sometimes the zip icon shows up and sometimes it does not. I get a message that the disc is not readable. Sometimes I get a message about re intializing the disc. In short the Zip really doesn't work.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

JR

Hi John! Welcome to NoWonder! The first thing that you should check is to make sure that the iomega zip extension is in your extensions folder, and if it isn't, install it, and if it is, trash it and reinstall it. It would also be a good idea to get a copy of iomega's free zip utilities. The latest versions of all the zip extensions and utilities are available at http://www.iomega.com

If installing or reinstalling this software doesn't work, try running Norton Utilities (if you have it) or a similar program. If you need any help with any of this, or these suggestions don't help, email me at nicolej@nowonder.com

If you continue to have problems, it would be helpful if you included whether or not the zip disk mounts at startup or not when there is a zip disk in the drive at startup.

Drop me a line whether it works or not--

Best of Luck,
Nicole Jacque
