Knowledge Level: Intermediate

Problem: Software
Computer Type: Apple
Model: PowerMac 6500/250
RAM: 48meg
RAM Enhancer: Virtual Memory
OS Version: MacOS 8.1

Description:
Lost the means of selecting the microphone in the Monitors & Sound control panel. The only selections it has is "none, audio in, & cd". I had the ability before. I tried another copy of the control panel and just using the basic OS 8.1 start-up set. I also tried the sounds control panel. I wanted to use speech again on my Mac, thats when I found the problem. If I use the audio in setting, the sound comes over the speakers. I have gotten some bad feed back on some games and I beleive it started when I loaded up "Titanic". Please help me.

Dear Ray,

Sounds like you are having trouble with 8.1 upgrade. 8.1 changed the way your make uses sound imput. I would sugest switching back to 8.0 . unless you are on a network or need the extra room of the new hsf drive format there is little advancement for you in 8.1 if I can be of further help let me know. jerry
