Charles,

It is highly recommended that you run Disk Doctor from the Norton CD (or any other startup disk). There are certain repairs that cannot be made if any files on the hard drive are being used. If the hard drive is the startup drive, there are many files in use, preventing some inspections and repairs. When I need to repair my hard drive, I startup off of a Zip disk which I have prepared with a minimal System Folder and Norton Utilities. This allows me to use the most updated version of Norton, which the CD does not include. Go to Symantec's web site and check to be sure you have the most recent update to Disk Doctor (ver. 4.01 right now, I believe).

I would gess that when you installed Quicken, the installer dropped it in the folder you were using previously in the Finder. This is uncommon, but is no big deal. Just drag the Quicken folder out of the Norton folder and onto the main level of your hard drive.
Thanks for using NoWonder,
Patrick Murphy
