I just successfully re-installed my OS upgrade thanks
to help from your techs.

Unfortunately, this time around I managed to re-install
my user account.....oops!. ( I really, really should have
known better than to use the same name..)

I'm hoping that there might be some possible way
to recover the items on the drive that were in my
now-empty documents folder.

I have disk warrior, but that only seems to be useful
for rebuilding a corrupted directory structure.

I will avoid writing anything to this drive if there
is possibly some way to recover the now orphaned
items on it. If some recovery software exists that
will do this, please, please let me know!

In the meantime, I do have a backup drive which
I will now go check.....

Thanks for your excellent and prompt help.

Hi there,

When you reinstalled the OS -- 10.4, right? -- did you use the Archive and Install setting? Or did you erase the drive and reinstall without leaving your previous info intact on it?

If you have a backup, are your files current and intact there?

Hi Beverly,

The bad news is that I deleted the archive because I ran out
of disk space.

The good news is that I recovered 95% of the data from the
backup.

Thanks for your help in this.
