Hello,
I have just downloaded a new eBook with a .lit extension and I cannot open it. Is it possible to open .lit files in Tiger? Could you please suggest me a program to download in order to open it?
Thankyou for your time.
I don't know if you will be able to open .lit files (which are Microsoft-format- eBook files), but a quick search finds this link with an OS X converter utility.

Thankyou for responding so quickly. I tried the program on that site but could not get the commands to work. I found a converter for windows as I could not find any others for Tiger. "ABC Amber Lit Converter"
Another problem I have is Mac Help on my machine. The help viewer works fine when viewing specific applications help files, opened from within the apps. But the main Mac Help, opened from finder, does not go any further than the first page and menu, spotlight returns no results on any subjects within Mac Help. And the links on the first page open blank pages. Any idea what could be the problem?
Here's a hint that should get your help going again.
Open your user/Library/Caches folder. Drag the com.Apple.helpui folder to the trash.
Then, go to your Preferences folder (in that same user/Library folder)
Find and trash any files the begin with com.apple.help (you should find 2 or 3)
Empty the trash, and try your Mac help. Keep in mind that the help files can be updated through your internet connection, so first time to open can be slow.
Were you successful with the .lit files? I have heard that most of those files can't be opened on a Mac (they are in a Windows format, and you may find that some will only open on a Windows system.)

That worked a treat, that has been bugging me for a while thanks for your help.
I could not work the .lit converter I downloaded from
http://www.convertlit.com so I downloaded ABC Amber Lit Converter (Windows) and converted to PDF on my Windows computer, then transferred them over to me Mac. That program is really good if you ever need to convert .lit files, it converts them to pdf, html, txt and more within seconds. The 90 page book I converted took less than 5 seconds. Unfortunatley I could not find a converter for OS X other than the open source one at convertlit.com
Thanks again for your time and help.
