I have an iMac G4 PowerPC 800 MHz 1GB SD RAM OS X 10.4.9
How do I find out how much free space I have left?
I want to install iLife 06 into my computer but am worried about the amount of space I have now and will have after.
If I don't have enough, what should I unistall to gain enough space?
I really only use iPhoto, iMovie, iTunes, iDVD, Word and Excel, is there a way to piece together the software package I need for the things I use?
I see that iLife 06 comes with Garage Band which I will never use, won't that just take up more space?
Thanks so much
Control Click (opposite-click with 2 button mouse) the hard-drive icon on your desktop, then select get info from the list [or highlight the icon and hit Command i. It'll pop up a box with the space available, used, and free.
Garage band is 102.7MB in size on my system with iLife 06. So it doesn't take up too much space. You could always drag it from your Applications folder to the trash (and empty) if you're really set on removing it. Same removal goes for the apps in Office that you don't want/need (Powerpoint, Entourage, etc.)
