the list of compatibility issues between 10.2.8, and 10.4.x is much too long to post here.
The best way to proceed? Check for updates for the main software that you use. Most apps will work, even if you upgrade that app before upgrading to Tiger. The Apple apps, iTunes, Safari, Image Capture, etc, etc. will all be updated along with the Tiger install. The third party apps that you might have, are where you should check. Typically, only a few apps really need to be updated on an individual computer.
More questions about specific software?

Thanks Dale,
I'm sorry, I was not specific enough. It's just that I saw the following review on the apple store site and as I have the same computer should it put me off?

'People who own the Late 2004 revision of the Power Mac G5 1.8Ghz Single Processor will be greeted with system lockups when attempting to use almost all applications which use fullscreen. Such as Mail slideshow, Preview slideshow, Quicktime content in... Read more*> Safari, Quicktime, Games, and many other programs. Since Apple has not addressed this problem in the first two revisions of Tiger and probably will not in the future I would warn anyone with the formentioned computer to not purchase Tiger.'

Here's an Apple tech article that accurately describes the problem, and gives a work-around to avoid it. I haven't heard if the 10.4.3 update does anything for this. Apple may release a firmware update to provide a better fix.
