Description:
Is it possible to create an 8.1 installation disk on a Zip drive. I have OS 8 and the 8.1 update but cannot figure out how to do a miminum install of OS 8 to the Zip drive. If I get that figured out will there be enough room left on the Zip to install the 8.1 update.
I have searched everywhere and can't find a straightforward way to do this.
Thanks,

Jeff:
I've done this in the past, and you should be able to install OS 8 onto your Zip Disk by selecting that disk during the MacOS 8 Installation program instead of your Hard Disk. You will have to do a minimum install of OS 8, and yes, you should be able to install 8.1 ontop of it.
However, you can also do a clean installation onto your hard drive (assuming you have enough space) then upgrade it to 8.1 and drag the system to your Zip disk. Then delete the new system folder, and rename the Previous System Folder to System Folder.
As always, when you work with your system folder, upgrade your files. Good luck, and feel free to ask if you have any further questions.
