hi,

i setup with your help a wifi router with osx 10.4.2. for now, i use a broadcasted wifi network, say the wifi network name can be found by anyone able to detect signal. WEP is also setup ok.

what i'll prefer is to disable broadcast of the network and disable wep also. then add mac address filtering.

is that possible ?

All of those things are possible. You are going to have to use the Airport Administration Utility, which should be in the Utilities folder inside you main application folder. When you start up the utility, click the Configure button; after you enter the password, you can then access all those settings.

Here's a brief article which may or may not be useful:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=166614

The configuration steps aren't difficult. Just remember, that if you ever have a guest who wishes to access your network, you'll have to add the Mac address of that person's computer.

From the information in your original post, I concluded that you were currently using a base station.
Since you are using your Mac to share an internet connection by broadcasting the signal through it's Airport card, you shouldn't need any additional hardware. You would still use the Airport Administration Utility to change the settings.

sorry sometimes it's hard to explain all the things by writing messages. here the Airport Administration Utility wants to detect a station to connect to. any other way to setup airport card ?

thank you for the time you're spending with me.
