I have a Mac OS-X 10.2 user that on my recommendation downloaded Firefox. The Firefox icon cannot be removed from the desktop and placed in her applications directory. This seems like it should be a VERY simple thing. I do not have a mac to test how to do this. If one of you could help me out, I'd certainly appreciate it!

I don't understand. Where on the Desktop is she referring? Is she talking about copying from the disk image that she downloaded or did she do that previously and now wants to move the app to Applications?

From what I understand, she's installed the application and it creates a shortcut to the desktop, (not the dock) and she cannot move that to Applications. does this make sense? Like I said, I don;t have one here to duplicate the issue.

I appreciate the help through my vagueries!!

I don't know anything about Firefox creating an alias on the Desktop, however if the application is already installed, say, in Applications, than there should be no reason to keep an alias of it there, too. I would trash it and throw Firefox in the Dock, too, if desired.
