I am running 10.3.8 on my G4 ibook and it has slowed down to a frustrating level. It takes about 15 minutes to boot up and programs are taking longer to open as well. Once a program is open it run fairly smoothly but crashed programs and infinite spinwheels do occur more often than before.
Can you think of anything that might be causing this, I'm ready to start from scratch and reinstall everything.
Thanks,
gengji

Hi Movaun,
Well, the slowdown could be for several reasons: disk/file
fragmentation possibly being the main culprit.
Do you have any disk utilities like Norton Utilities or Disk Warrior? I ask because you really need to analyze the health of your system before it gets worse.
Let me know.

Thanks for the response Richard. I don't think I have either and only have what came with OSX. Any preferences between the two?

Both! They both do two different things. Disk Warrior will take care of system file problems. Norton Utilities basically takes care of everything else AND will defragment your hard drive. In your case I'd try to get a copy of Norton Utilities.
Hope this helps.
Richard
