DESCRIPTION:
For the past two weeks my Canon BJC-610 has indicated an "Out of Ink" condition for one color (Magenta).
I have replaced the cartridge twice in this time and perfomed numerous head cleanings. I suspect dried ink in the print head.
Before I take the printer for service, I want to know if there's any user-serviceable means to correct the problem.
Are there any solvents (or other methods) which can be used to clean the print head?
Thanks for addressing no wonder!
I don't think you should take it in for service. First I would just try to clean the ink head with a dry tissue, do not use any liquids! Which print head are you talking about, the one in the printer or on the cartridge? If that doesnt work, before taking it in to service, call the canon support line at 1-800-423-2366 and they might be able to help you if your printer is not older than your warranty period (usually two years on a canon printer). Also, check with the canon website (
http://www.ccsi.canon.com/) which may have free email technical support, FAQs, message boards, or some other means.
Hope this helps, Michael Smith
