I have an eMac with Road Runner Internet access. In order to access my RR email account, it opens OS 9 to open Outlook Express 5 for Mac.
I recently opened an email advertisement from Scholastic.com. The graphics never completely loaded, and the computer froze (a 1st time occurrence on this computer!). Since then, I have been unable to open Outlook Express. The following message box appears:
An error occurred while launching.
The end of file was reached.

After that, all I can do is click on "OK". Then the box closes and I am returned to OS X.

My technical level is minimal, so don't worry about making any response too simple!

Thanks!
Kerry

Hi Kerry,

Outlook unfortunately keeps everything in a proprietary database, and sometimes that database can become corrupted and might be difficult or impossible to open (though we haven't tried everything yet).

How important is anything you have in your Outlook 5 user files (saved email)? Could you start over with a new mail program without that being a big loss?

I would recommend using OS X Mail instead, and Road Runner or someone here can guide you through setting it up to access your email account if that would be helpful.

Beverly,
Thanks for your reply. The only really important stuff would be the address book, but I can probably reconstruct most of this.

I would appreciate guidance setting up an email account using OS X mail. Thanks, again.

Hi Kerry,

Sorry, I got swamped there. Did you ever manage to get an account set up in Mail? The Help section is pretty complete I think but let me know if you have any issues I might be able to help with.

thanks,

Beverly
