Description:
I was wondering if you have any basic documentation on partitioning a new 3.2 hard disk drive (Seagate) into 2 drives. I just bought it and I would like to transfer my old information from my old drive to the new one. I want to get rid of the old drive, but first I will transfer all the data. I have the room to accomodate for the 2 drives but I still just want to keep the new one only. I currently have an 850mb HDD. 600mb is only filled on it though. If you need any more info, please e-mail me and I will respond. I appreciate any help on the issue. Thanks

Without a doubt, the best thing I've used is Drive Copy by PowerQuest. It is inexpensive (I think it's $30-$40) and will do what you need in about 10-15 minutes.

You start with your current 850 Mb drive as a slave drive, the new drive as the master. Boot from a floppy, then run Drive Copy. It will create a 2.1 Gb partition and a 1.1 Gb partition on the new drive, and copy all the info from the 850 Mb to the 2.1 Gb partition. Voila!

I,ve used it several times, and never had a problem.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks for using No Wonder.
