DESCRIPTION:

is there any way to password protect a file.

i keep some confidential documents in a folder on a cpu at home, that is otherwise open (i let my frends dink around on the internet...etc) and i don't want to have to do passwords to every aspect of my computer,
just those particular files in that folder.

i know how to hide it, but it can still be accessed....
i know how to passprotect a particular file (and excel document, for example)

what choices do i have?

i'd love a way to get "my briefcase" for example, to be accessible only w/ a password, but to have all other things free and open.

Hello John,

You really have a number of options, from a simply password protect of a file to a whole folder.

There are many free and retail programs out there that will do things like this. Try going to this URL: http://www.pheared.com/nonags/security.html it is Nonags which has an extensive list of free programs. The security page has many programs that should work for you. Experiment with them.

Hope this helps
