Pathfinder is displaying some files and folders in a different order than Finder. I'm used to Finder and when I do a Command O to open a file in that program that is alway's in Finder's style. Is there any way of getting Pathfinder to display like Finder? Couldn't see anything in Preferences.

Never mind - found it. It was under Column View Options. Its called Smart Sorting, and it doesn't seem very smart.

Another question for Pathfinder 411: I need to know the size of several files. In Finder I would use:
Command Option I
but that doesn't work in Pathfinder. That was a good feature of Finder. Even right clicking doesn't seem to bring up any options for ascertaining file size of multiple items. If it could be displayed on the Status bar that would be awesome.

It was Command I. But it doesn't really replicate Command Option I in Finder which is like an info window that stays up all the time. If there is a way of replicating that, please let me know. I miss that.

Robin,

When you say Pathfinder are you talking about Spotlight, which is the search engine on your computer for OS X?

If so, then you can click twice on the item in the Spotlight window. It will open a new finder window. Now you can view by list. To make sure Size shows up in your list view, go to the View Menu and select Show view Options. A new window will open. Now check mark Size in that window. Close that little window and your finder window will now show the size of the files in that window.

Or are you talking about the toolbar option that shows the path of your finder window? Or are you talking about a shareware program?

Robin,

I did more research on your problem and found that you will be best served if you contact the developers of Path Finder.

I did say Pathfinder 411 which is the latest version of the program from Cocoatech.

Please repool the question. This is an excellent program that dwarfs Finder in its versatility and usefullness so there's bound to be others that are very familiar with it.

Robin,

If you check the FAQ on Cocatech's web site, you will see that Pathfinder does not have all of the features to replace the Mac OS finder. There is also a users guide that will help answer your questions.

Sorry that I missed the mark in my first response.

Cheryl, if you don't know the answer, please don't respond. This is a common program. I've searched the users guide to no avail. So please repool the question. Someone will know the answer here as there are lots of people in your help pool that use the program and have probably discovered the very same things that I did. Thanks anyway.

Pathfinder 4.5 is available; it has numerous improvements and fixes and may solve your problem(s) with the app. If it doesn't, Cocoatech has an excellent users' forum for PF as well as a very responsive support tech team. I'm sure they would be interested in your feedback and suggestions.
