Description:
Hello,
I've never used Ethernet on my 3400. Recently I tried to connect to an iMac and everything when normal except, when I tried to select Ethernet in AppleTalk I get the message,' An error occurred attempting to use Ethernet, make sure your network connections are correct". The iMac did not give this message. I tried with 8.5.1 and 8.1 with basically the same message. Yesterday I tried to connect to a 4400, same results. The 4400 didn't complain, the 3400 did with both 8.5.1 and 8.1. I have every Ethernet extension ( except the one for NuBus) loaded into the 3400 and AppleTalk refuses to select the Ethernet port. I do have the crossover Ethernet cable (just purchased from CompUSA), again, the iMac and 4400 do not have a problem setting up the Ethernet port in AppleTalk. I ended up using Infrared on the iMac and SCSI Disk on the 4400. According to ASP the 3400 has; Card name - pci 1011 , 14 ; Card revision - 33 ; Card vender ID - 1011 . The Apple Support page hasn't been any help. I read one post that says to select 'Ethernet' in AppleTalk on both machines 'simultaneously'. Any ideas? Tom
