Sorry I put it under the category Ipod softwear I just want to characterize it right this time
Ok I have a bit of a problem. I just downloaded a movie from isohunt.com onto my p.c which I want to send to my macosx. However it is not in avi, mpeg it is in something called iso. I have no idea what that is or how I can play it but it has a picture of a dvd over it. I tried using winzip and it sort of let me get out the one vob file in it but when it tried to play on realplayer it said that it needed more softwear and to click there to access that softwear I clicked there and they said there was no softwear to support it at that time. SO i playe dit without it and there was no sound and it was only 3 minutes and 50 seconds long. I think that the computer thinks that I have a dvd on this comp but it for some reason cant play it so what should I do to get into avi or some kind of playable format(currently its on the p.c)
An iso image usually has to "burned" to a disk (CD or DVD) before it is usable. On a PC, one program you could use to do that would be Easy CD Creator. On the Mac, the equivalent program is called Toast. In fact they are made by the same company.
You can find instructions about how to burn an iso image using that program I mentioned here:
http://www.wizardskeep.org/mainhall/.../cdcrtiso.html
It really isn't difficult. Another PC program you could use is called Nero.
Once you have burned the disk, you could probably play it on a Mac using either VLC Connection or one called mplayer.
the only thing is my pc only has a cd drive and not a dvd-r drive. How would I go about sending my iso file to my mac?
The only way to do that, and I am assuming this is a large file, would be to network them. Either that, or somehow get the use of either an external burner, or a very high capacity usb memory drive.
I think im gonna try iming it to myself on the other computer ill let you know how that goes
