Alright, here's the prob. I have an iMac that does not have an airpot networking card but I do have two wireless Linksys G routers and a Linksys access point.
In my main room, I have a DSL connected PC. I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to split the DSL wirelessly to my MAC and if Linksys and Mac are even compatible???
I'm not sure if I should use the access point because I don't even know what it's for...so pretty much I'm stumped with pc to mac networking. Any help on the issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!
P.S.
A basic explanation would suffice, I can work my way around the rest : )
just for extra info here's the model# of the routers
LINKSYS WRT54GP2A
LINKSYS BEFW11S4
That router will work perfectly wih he mac, besides, a router is a router...
Are you going to run cable for your iMac?? I also have a router that is "all-in-one" work finr with my mac and Linux boxen...
As for a wireless card on OSX as far as I know, d-link have very good support for all OS's including X, perhaps you should consider getting a USB D-Link wireless adapter...
Just in case another tech is wondering the same thing, you can't use either of the routers as a bridge. I was going to suggest that as an option, but it looks like you'll need to buy a wireless adapter for the iMac to make this work.
If your DSL modem has an ethernet connection, then you can connect it to the WAN port of the WRT54GP2, and connect your PC to one of the ports. If the DLS modem has an USB connection, then you need enable internet sharing on your XP box and connect it to one of the LAN ports on the WRT54GP2. You'll also need to disable NAT and DHCP on the WRT54GP2 since XP will be doing that job.
Hope this helps.
