I hit something on my keyboard that made viewing a PDF file in Safari enormous. I tried putting my mouse in the center of the page, near the bottom (in help file) and no icons showed up for me to reduce the size. At the same time, my desktop moves all over the place, which is weird, but cleared up after restart.
Help, please.

I assume you want to avoid this problem in the future?

There are a number of utilities that will allow you to turn off Safari's opening of PDFs. In general, I find them much easier to handle as PDFs, downloaded to my desktop, where they will open in Preview - and where you can easily resize the window.

You can also, of course, use your contextual menu to download the linked file instead of letting Safari open it.

So, there is no way to get my PDF's back to normal size in Safari? They used to be fine. But, I'll just download if that's my only option now.

You certainly could try pulling com.aoole.safari.plist out of your user/library/preferences. You will have to reset them, but that's often an easy cure to glitchy little problems.

First quit Safari, then start it up again after removing its preferences file, and it will rebuild a new one. Another cure would be to simply replace your copy of Safari with a fresh one, but this should cure it.
