Dear Help
The problem is as follows:
When downloading a pdf file only one page (of a multi page document) is revealed and when attempting to print that single page no text appears on the printed paper.
However, I must mention that not all downloaded pdf files are this way, some open perfectly and print correctly. All CD transferred pdf's open correctly.
When downloading the same pdf file to my Mac laptop the above problems do not appear.
I shall be most grateful for any assistance that you can offer.
Kind regards
Lawrence (from Cornwall in Britain)

Can you offer an example of a faulty item? Are you downloading these files and opening them separately or using a PDF plugin within your browser? What application are you using to open them?, in which you experience the partial glitch.

Dear Ben
Many thanks for your reply apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
Here is an example link where the fault appears. It is our telephone bill, it comes via an email onto to which we click to go to our bill. Interestingly when the former occurs the file does not open Acrobat (the PDF reader I think) but is presented as a Safari file.
https://secure1.onetel.net.uk/cgi-bi...%20June%202006
When the bill appears it is only one page, however when we open the same link on our Ibook laptop it is a full 6-8 pages.
When I save the invoice file to the desktop and open it from within Acrobat 6.0.2 a dialog box appears with 'There was an error opening this document. The file damaged and could not be repaired'.
Once again thank you and I hope that my information can assist.
Kind regards
Lawrence
PS By the way the same one page file when seen in Preview or indeed printed shows zero i.e. nothing printed.

I can't open that link because I'm not logged into your account.
I'd like to see what happens first if you update to Adobe Reader 7.

I'm not sure what's going on with the number of pages showing. How does the iBook open the file? Is it downloaded or shown in Safari using the Adobe PDF Plugin? What version of Adobe Reader do you have on the iBook?

Dear Ben
I have uploaded to you two files entitled Laptop and Desktop. The laptop downloaded the telephone bill and opened it in Safari showing all pages. I transfered it to the Desktop and opened it with Adobe 7.0.8 (updated at your suggestion, thank you) all pages.
I downloaded the same file on the Desktop and it opened in Adobe 7.0.8 AND Acrobat 6.0.2! Whatever has happen appears to have cured the problem. Many thanks for the kind suggestion.
Kind regards
Lawrence

The upload feature is broken on macosx.com at the moment, until Scott brings the new site online this week, so I can't download the files you sent. However, I'm thrilled to hear about your solutions. Is that the full version of Adobe Acrobat 6?, or just Acrobat Reader 6?
If the latter, you can trash it and replace it with Adobe Reader 7. If the former, then I guess the update installation replaced some shared files that were previously causing a failure. Or, simply, the version 7 PDF plugin was the solution for Safari, compared to the version 6 plugin.
Anyway, glad it works!

Dear Ben
Sorry for the delay in replying.
It was the former i.e. the full version of Adobe Acrobat 6, but as you say V7 appears to have cured the fault and after several days continues to work perfectly.
Once again many thanks to an expert.
Kind regards
Lawrence
