When i sent a PDF to a clien when it arrived it had some fonts missing, even though on my end it was ine can anyone tell me why that would have happened?

Howdy!

You need to make sure you send pdf/x-1a files because they are all inclusive. You probably sent a pdf that wasn't optimized for emailing and was dependent on the correct fonts being installed.

You can create pdf/x-1a files natively in InDesign or set your Distiller preferences for this format so any .ps or .eps file you rip from quark will be converted to this format.

I usually File/Reduce File Size in order to flatten the pdf image as well as send a smaller file and remove any font issues. It is a low res, non-print ready file, however, so I save both versions.
