Hi,

This is driving me crazy, I appreciate your help. I have a lot of experience with macs but I just can't figure this one out. I have the latest version of Leopard. I also have a 4x6 HP photo printer. It's the only printer I have installed. I found that when I select print and save as PDF it will only save the PDF as a 4x6 document which makes faxing and printing from other computers difficult.

I figured that I could just install a dummy or generic printer driver and it might take the 81/2x11 page dimensions from that, but I can't seem to figure out how to do that in leopard.

What can I do? Have you heard this one before?

Thanks,
Branden Dudek

What if you duplicate your existing printer (just add it again) and designate it for this purpose. Then, can you set paper size in Preview Page Setup for that printer and have it carry over to PDF exports?

I thought of that, but since the printer can only print 4x6 or smaller it doesn't allow you to choose a paper size any bigger. Still stumped .. this one's tricky. I tried to find something about this on apple's support site, but couldn't really find anything about it. I wonder if they're aware of this, you'd think they'd save .pdf files independently of the printer, that is the point of pdf in the first place I thought.

Wait, so you can't create a custom paper size that suits your needs?

Well, the next best thing, or perhaps better thing, is to create a virtual printer. These instructions should suit your needs, right?
