Hi Michael, this is Jeremy from No Wonder. You don't have to buy any software to back up, it just makes it much easier. Technically you can just manually copy files to you back up drive. However, a program like Retrospect Express ($50 US) makes this all much easier. It will automate your backups so you can schedule them to run at a certain time with out you needing to be there. (As long as your back up media doesn't fill up, in which case it will ask for a new disk, tape, etc.)
