Hello Gord

thanks for using macosx.com and I will do my best to advise/help you.

Photoshop 7 was the first "X Native" running version of PS - except it is not really "native" it is "carbonised" - that is it uses some native X code and bits of the older OS9 (aka Classic) code. It should run fine on 10.2-10.4 on PPC Macs - it won't run on intel as they won't handle any Classic code and it won't run on 10.5 as that lost Classic support too.

I would consider looking for an upgrade to a later Photoshop, or if your needs don't run to the "whole 9 yards" of Photoshop consider either Elements or even perhaps Pixelmator (which is like a PS CS3 lite for about $60 IIRC)

Upgrading to 10.3 or 10.4 is a really good thing to do - even on your older Mac you will find that performance should improve - and stability, and you will get access to a whole raft of much newer software - and a lot of freeware too - check out the excellent www.pure-mac.com and perhaps the www.opensourcemac.org/ (not as up to date as it could be but hey...

Hope that helps
