TICKET ARCHIVE -> Photoshop CS2 9.0.1 starts up on login mysteriously!
Mutato - Jul 19, 2006 - 9:57 am
Hi,
We installed CS2 on our work machines. For some reason, CS2 starts up automatically when I login or restart. I don't want it to do this.
I checked my System user profile for login items and there is NO Photoshop listed. I looked at my Photoshop preferences and there seems to be no option of making it auto starting ther as well.
Is there a place I'm missing? Very weird!
Thanks,
Martin

Looks like it might not be able to find a system to boot up from? Pressing 'c' on boot up just gives me a Folder icon with a flashing question mark, instead of (if i recall correctly) my OS X install.

You could try locking the start up items in your user account to see if that keeps them from auto loading.

Hi,
Take a look at the png screenshot of my login items. There's no Photoshop listed there. So why the heck is it auto starting?
Otherwise, Photoshop works fine. My machine works fine. I just don't want it starting up automatically. Does anybody know if there's some sort of pref in PS that's controlling it?

Lock the accounts/start up items anyway and see if that helps, even though there might be nothing showing there.
Open Utilities/Activity Monitor after start up and see what programs are running. Try to find any "CS Autoloaders" or the like in the list. You have to go to view menu in Activity Monitor to see the list.
I'll look for answers to why your apps are starting themselves. It's very strange because usually only font apps autoload.

Also look in each app's plug-in folder to determine if there's an auto-load plug in causing your issue.

I've posted your issue to Adobe Forum/Photoshop to see if I can get an answer to this interesting question. I'll keep you posted.

Not much luck on the adobe forums...
can you restart and as soon as you can run Activity Monitor to see what app might be starting the cs suite? Let me know what happens.
I'll keep searching; should I open up this question to others so we can get more help for you? Let me know...

Do you have Adobe Version Cue running on all machines?

Hi,
Take a look at my Activities Monitor screenshot enclosed above. There are a few things I don't know what they are. Can anybody help me understand what these are?
Mutato - Jul 31, 2006 - 11:26 am
Please take a look at my screengrab of my Activity Monitor and see if any weird things are running. Obviously, there looks to be more than what's in my login startup items.
Thanks

Can't see your enclosure. Where is it again?

For all,
the screenshots are at the top of this page. For some reason, I cannot add them in this response. So take a look up there to see my activity monitor shot.
Thanks!

I'm sorry, I don't see anything at the top. Can you post the screenshot to the web?
Do you use Adobe Version Cue at all? This is an app, not a hidden activity...

There is a new InDesign update on version tracker here. See if any of these updates fixes your issue:

Hi,
Just below my original post at the top is the section called "File Attachments". That's the same place I had posted a screenshot of my Login Items. Can you see it? It's there. Or it should be ; - )
As for Indesign, I don't use that. We have Illustrator and Photoshop in the CS2 only.
Thanks,
Martin

Must be a glitch in the system because I don't see any file attachments. I wonder if it's because I'm the second tech to see this question?
You could email it to me at
