RAM: 65+
RAM Enhancer: None
OS Version: MacOS 8.1

Description:
Sometimes when I try to open large photoshop-documents I get the message saying something like: This document has been destroeyd. The most likely causes are; a defect disc-station, a defect scsi-cable, or bad scsi-terminating". The file can be opened, but can not be used because of missing parts etc.
Tried: rebuilding the desktop, norton, saved on server, own hard-disk, zip-drive, photoshop-memory increased to 45000 k. In fact every possible reason I could think of (including my support's thoughts about this) has been tried. The problem is still there. The problem is not stable. Have tried to save as cmyk/rgb, with and without layers, tiff and eps, can not find any logic in this. I can work with many pictures and all is well, but then suddenly the file is damaged (and all my work has to been done one more time....!!!!) Could u please help me out of this problem, neither Adobe/Apple or my support seems to have any explanation to what is happening. And neither one of them thinks that the problem is a disc-related problem (dispite the message). Hope to hear from you!
Kind regards
from Anders (in Norway)

What version of Photoshop are you using and what plug-in/filters have you used on the documents? You may have a corrupt Photoshop plug-in. Try reinstalling plug-ins.
How much hard drive space do you have available? Your scratch disk may be full.
Have you optimized (defragmented) your hard drive?
Try zapping the PRAM (reset the Parameter RAM).
Try opening those large files in another graphics editing program (such as GraphicConverter, GIFConverter, JPEG View, etc.) and saving them in the alternate application. GraphicConverter opens graphics in just about any format. If some of these files are JPEG, try opening them in Netscape. Then save a copies of the files (to your desktop) from Netscape. Sometimes that will improve the integrity of JPEG and GIF files.
If some files were saved as PICT, try opening them in SimpleText.

Suggestion: If possible, try saving backup copies of your large Photoshop graphic files in several formats, so in an emergency, you can open them in other applications.

Hope some of this helps.
