Hi
I am pretty disappointed at my Photoshop CS2 performance on my G4 Quicksilver 733mhz 40GB/120GB External/1.25GBRAM/ Tiger 10.4.2. Preferences/scratch disks are set to optimum and when I am working on an image the efficiency is showing 100%, however when I am creating a selection and am using the space bar to move around the image it seems to really slow down. I have recently fitted an ATI Radeon 9200 Pro 128MB to drive a Formac Gallery Raven 2010 @ 1600x1200.
Any feedback would be appreciated, I am beginning to think video card as I have just started to play Chopper- the side scrolling 2D game and it is rather jerky whereas at work on a G5 it plays fine ( running Panther !!!).
Thanks
Mark

How much hard disk space do you have free?
I just went to tiger and Photo Shop CS2 to get the best performance and had the same issue. I cleaned my hard drive and got rid of many gigas of storage to a back up external drive. Problem seems to have moderated.

Hi Oscar
I have approx 20GB free on my system disk and about 40GB on my external firewire disk, which is set up as the secondary scratch disk.
Thanks
Mark

My hard drive shows 28GB free. I suspect that virtual memory plays a major roll in the speed issue. Any system gurus agree?

I agree Oscar, but when the efficiency is reading 100%, I am told that virtual memory is not being used, therefore i am inclined to think that it may be a graphics card issue, especially as the display is rather jerky when playing basic 2d games.
