I have just installed a new pioneer dvr-109 in my g4 quicksilver, running tiger os x. the dvr-109 firmware is 1.17, it says.
the drive does not read dvd-r discs very well, and it comes with strange error messages, like it "cannot continue unless the open files on the disc to be copied from are closed"- even if they are closed!

how do i update the firmware to 1,58 for mac which i have read is the latest.? the fw on pioneers site is for pc, and when i download it and extract it, i cannot come any further.

i have installed patchburn 4, but that didn't help.

please help! i am a film director and need to use the drive right away!
thank you so much

Hi! This is what you're looking for:
1) Download this:
DVRFlash 2.1 (firmware flasher fro Mac) at
http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?t=35232

2)Download the firmwares here: http://tdb.rpc1.org/#DVR109
(the firmware is also RPC-1 so you can now use any region coded DVD, without the hassle of changing the player region code.)

Follow the instructions located in the Readme file of the firmware flash app.
They're quite easy to understand: Follow anything is told there, because flashing operations must be done in a perfect mode, to prevent any possible problem.
Let me know if you need additional help. Bye!!
