was trying to upgrade my pioneer dvr 110 as per the instructions
http://72.14.235.104/search?q=cache:...z&ct=clnk&cd=8
When using terminal I got this response
Last login: Thu Oct 12 20:54:55 on ttyp1
Welcome to Darwin!
rob-ocops-Computer:~ robocop$ cd/Users/robocop/DVRFlash/
-bash: cd/Users/robocop/DVRFlash/: No such file or directory
rob-ocops-Computer:~ robocop$ ./DVRFlash -ff "A:PIONEER" RA100010.141 RA100110.141
-bash: ./DVRFlash: is a directory
rob-ocops-Computer:~ robocop$
and nothing happened.
I put the folder inside my user folder, tried it on the desktop and tried it on the desktop, it said no such file or directory all times.
so I didn't really get to go any further with it.
and advice?

Hi and welcome to macosx.com
Not familiar with flashing, but doc sequence:
./DVRFlash -vf PIONEER RA100010.141 RA100110.141
and not your
./DVRFlash -ff "A:PIONEER" RA100010.141 RA100110.141
>> vf not ff
>> PIONEER no A:PIONEER with quotes
>>> cd/Users/robocop/DVRFlash/: No such file or directory
You must type a space between cd command and the path of the directory
cd[blank]/Users/robocop/DVRFlash
where [blank] keyword above means a space

thank you, it was the space after cd I needed to know and it worked a charm. I usedd the ff code as per the original post by accident not having read your instuctions right through but it worked anyway.
thank you very much for your help. I don't like this code stuff very much which is why I use macintosh. the osx stuff is reverting back to it a bit and that's unfortunate. Teminal, console etc, scary, don't want to know
Cheers

Great it works. Thank you for using macosx.com
You know flashing firmware, changing intenal flags for a special drive to be recognised, .. you know, all these tricky tips will always requiers to put the hands in the Terminal ;-)
Some mac users sites help the reader to achieve the goal by offering to download an Applescript/C++ program which puts a nice GUI to such awfull lines of codes.
I would like also to focus your attention to the fact that flashing drive, .. will disrupt your warranty. And this is not a simple word for Apple: a friend of mine has, like you, flashed its drive for higher burner speeds and he has not problem for achieving its goals and burning at high speeds. Some months later, still under warranty, a burned smell comes from its 'lamp' G4. AHT detects a problem in a BUS controller.. So he called Applecare, make tests... and yes a problem.. "Send us the Mac, will be repaired under warranty"... Great
Two weeks later, AP calls back: "Cannot repair under warranty.. you've flashed your drive..maybe the problem was initiated by this.."
"Maybe ? But do you make other tests ?"
"No, you've flashed the drive, therefore modifying the original hardware covered by AP. So.."
Regards
Philippe
